Gas Station Attendant Abducted by Four Armed Robbers
Norman Bardach, a Chicago gas station attendant, was forced into a car by four men at the Oklahoma Gas Station in Riverdale. They escaped with about $117 after abducting him at gunpoint early Thursday dawn. Bardach later disclosed a prior robbery in August 1960 with two suspects apprehended nearby.

A morning blaze at Fred's Restaurant & Lounge 1 W. 187th St Riverdale left a family homeless after a wall collapse trapped the upstairs apartment. Pat Spinozzi and his wife escaped with their son Mike as Riverdale and Harvey fire crews fought the fire until 11 a.m. The restaurant, a local dining staple, suffered extensive losses with about 21 employees affected and thousands in damage.
