Dolton and Riverdale Hold Joint Board Session

Dolton and Riverdale committees met jointly with I H B officials. They discussed paving Main Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, street lighting for New Chicago, bus line certificate, Coal Shed ordinance, curb house numbers, and gates at 140th Street and Indiana Avenue, with a planned joint meeting with railroad officials.

Riverdale Street and Alley Committee Orders Repairs

The Street and Alley Committee gained power to repair 189th street and Indiana avenue. Lambert urges sidewalk fixes on West 138th street and other sites. Clerks notify property owners to act. Panhandle crossing repairs urged. railroad notified. A new street light at 140th and Atlantic is approved. Health Ordinance revision referred to Health Committee. A six inch water main under Halsted street viaduct was cut for leaks. Federal Ice Co., Hales & Hunter, and S. H. B. railroad seek a new main funded by the firms, to be repaid via water bills at 25 percent monthly. Work to be overseen by village engineer. Bonse notes 140th street and S. H. B. crossing protection to be discussed at a joint meeting with railroad officials and Dalton board next Wednesday.

Joint Meeting on Flicker Light System in Dolton Riverdale

A joint session of the Street and Alley Committees from Dolton and Riverdale, with Superintendent Swafford of the Indiana Harbor Belt, approved a railroad flicker light system proposed for the Dolton area. The system would cost about $5,000 and take two months to install, with a watchman added if unsatisfactory. Taxi-Cab Thief Tosses Woman After Attempted Attack Near Ford Plant

Police chase ends with a robber abandoning a stolen taxi near the Ford plant after forcing Mrs. Lillian Matthews from the vehicle. Officer Harold Koehncke fired at the fleeing car as it sped away, later learning Matthews and her brother James McKinzie were robbed and the taxi had been stolen earlier from East Chicago.

Christ Is Grippy Man Fights To Reach Own Hospital

Riverdale resident Christ Scheller, 45, injured last Monday in a Gibson yards car switch, resisted St. Margaret's Hammond hospital and fled to a Blue Island hospital after leaping from an ambulance. He later told his wife he intended to go to his own hospital.
