Dolton Board Examines Public Works and Fire Safety

The Dolton village board met with all members present except Trustee Diliner. Bills totalling many small items from the Sanitary District of Chicago and others were approved. treasurer reported 1,828.48 on hand. Fire safety and water pressure issues were discussed, including a possible booster pump, better fire alarm, and Ford fire truck replacement. The board also addressed dog control, police ammo shortages, and street repairs, with notices to railroads for crossings and to property owners to fix walks. Lost crank reported. a few ads for sale and services appeared.

Fire Strikes Clyde Knapp Property in Dalton

Last Sunday the Clyde Knapp building at Oak and Frederick streets caught fire from a chimney spark. Firemen arrived from Engine Co. 18 and Calumet but water pressure was insufficient, threatening the roof before crews saved the lower floor. The Knapp loss is limited by insurance, neighbors helped move furniture, and plans to boost water pressure or install a booster pump were discussed.
