One Dead and Four Injured in Dalton Intersection Crash
C L McWilliams 54 of Rock Island Illinois died in Ingalls Memorial Hospital Harvey after a two car collision at Sibley Boulevard and Michigan City Road Dalton Thursday night. Four others were injured including McWilliams’ fellow passenger Mable Nowers and driver Orrin Nowers. Arthur Guziar faces DUI and stop sign violations. Inquest postponed to August 2.

Harvey Man Named War Fund Chairman for Region VI
William G. Fischer of Harvey has been named chairman for Region VI of the Community and War Fund fall campaign. He will direct fundraising across southern Cook County, assemble a 4,000 volunteer staff, appoint district leaders, and coordinate with the central Chicago fund office to reach full regional participation through instructional meetings on fund solicitation methods.

Raymond Wilmot Receives Bronze Star for Valor
Sgt. Raymond H. Wilmot of the 79th Infantry Division earns the Bronze Star for meritorious action in France on March 27 1945. He endured enemy fire to contact his commander and aid his platoon then helped secure the pocket, later serving in Belgium Holland and Germany. He holds the Purple Heart Croix de la Guerre four battle stars and other honors. He is the son of Mrs Elizabeth Wimot of Dalton and his brother Martin serves overseas.

Rev Paul M Gilbert Succeeds Rev Freeman In Dalton Mission
The Rev Paul M Gilbert, pastor of Mount Greenwood and Worth Methodist churches, is named to succeed Rev Milton S Freeman as pastor of Dalton and Ivanhoe Community Methodist churches. The appointment was announced at the Chicago Southern District Rock River conference meeting. Gilbert, born in Iowa, holds a BA from Nebraska Wesleyan and BD from Garrett, finishing in 1942. He has led successful expansions at Mount Greenwood and Worth, and now serves in Camp programs at Berger Campgrounds in Dalton. He and his wife have two sons Dwight and Wayne.
