A joint meeting of residents from Glenwood, Thornton, South Holland and Harvey convened at South Holland village hall to seek injunctions against further pollution of Thorn Creek and the Little Calumet River. Attendees cited doubled taxes and ruined property, with Chief State Sanitary Engineer Harry Ferguson and State Representative Mrs. Ickes speaking. Committees will circulate subscription blanks. about 300 dollars was raised, with Mrs. Ickes adding 25 dollars, to fund legal action and other measures against the pollution nuisance.

Dolton Man Killed by C&EI Train at 144th Street Crossing
John Fraker 42 a Dolton carpenter was struck and killed this morning by a fast C&EI passenger train at the 144th street crossing. He left a widow and two children, a daughter 15 and a son 11. An inquest is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Bachman morgue. Undertaker Bachman handled the body.
