Dolton Board OKs Paving Projects and Infrastructure Plan

The Dolton Board votes to pave Forest and Kanawha Avenues, Catalpa Lane and 138th Place, with 95 percent of nearby property owners supporting the paving petition. The meeting approves 50 tons coal contract for village hall, new fire hydrants, street lights on Sibley and East Lincoln, and an ordinance to set frontage costs at 10 to 11 dollars per front foot. A county sewer project assessment is authorized, with bids to be opened June 27.

Theodore Bork Dies at Riverdale Home

Theodore Bork, chief forwarding clerk at Yard Center, died this morning at his Riverdale home from Addison’s disease. Palmer Meyers Wed in Dalton First Methodist Ceremony

Audrey Verna Myers daughter of Rev and Mrs Myers and Harlan Baldwin Palmer son of Rev and Mrs Palmer were married at First Methodist Episcopal church Dalton on Monday June 20 at 8 pm. The service was officiated by the fathers. Bride wore white georgette with veil and lilies of the valley. Bridesmaids included Margaret Palmer and Beatrice Adams with Doris Myers as maid of honor. George D Morris served as best man. A flower girl was Betty Jean Nairn. Music by Eleanor Jones Beth Englehard and B D Jones. Afterward relatives gathered at the parsonage for refreshments. The couple, both educated at Colorado institutions, plan a summer motor tour east and will reside in Boulder Colorado in the fall.

Boy Hit By Truck In Narrow Escape At Leyden And 138th

William Steel Jr five year old son of Mr and Mrs William B Steel of Highlawn narrowly escaped death Friday evening after a truck from Hammond struck him at Leyden avenue and 138th street. Rushed to Dr Weidners office he suffered a deep forehead gash requiring stitches and faces several weeks of soreness yet his prognosis remains hopeful for full recovery.

Northwestern grad William Rockrohr earns honors in commerce and law

One of many Northwestern University graduates last Monday was real estate man William Rockrohr who completed a course in commerce and law and graduated with high honors. He attended night school for years and is proud of his diploma.

South Holland plans bridgehead for avenue openings

A committee of South Holland residents pushes to open Indiana avenue to 159th street and south to Thornton road as part of a city plan to widen South Park and Indiana avenues. The Dalton Riverdale Chamber of Commerce formed a committee led by Walter Novak to work with bus lines to route Michigan City road to the Illinois Central depot in Riverdale benefiting I C electric riders.

A Dalton Riv erdale Chamber committee attended a Chicago Golden Gate Association banquet at the Stevens Hotel. Speakers outlined highway, electric transit, and Forest Preserve plans, with telegrams urging Mayor Thompson to build Calumet Harbor and a resolution pledging future activities.

Thorn Creek Pollution Probe to be Reviewed by Chicago Heights

May 23 1927 officials report Sanitary Engineer M C Sjoblom and Izaak Walton League examined Thorn Creek pollution from industrial wastes near Armour fertilizer plant and inadequately treated sanitary sewage at the treatment plant. They urge action, noting long standing problems and difficulty locating offending plants. The discussion continued with plans to install manholes for monitoring.
