Riverdale Board Tacks Through Tuesday Meeting
The Riverdale board met last Tuesday approving plans for an annual appropriation ordinance and vote to levy funds. Trustees discussed lamp placement on Michigan Avenue, 138th Street, and Indiana Avenue, and left other lighting projects to the committee. Funding for sewer Work remained due at $416.58 to Contractor Connor, with a partial payment authorized. Firemen reported finding a suitable horse and the bill for it was approved. A hall and building committee was given broad authority. Health matters included enforcing village ordinances at Belz dairy with a 30 day deadline for Belz to address the nuisance. Bonds for the Eastern Illinois Railroad and two saloon bonds were approved. Water-tax delinquencies were listed, with Baumgartner ordered to collect or shut off water service. The Dalton Board of Education requested a rate reduction for Highlawn School water, which was denied. Suit against Pere Marquette and Terminal railroads for blocking street crossings was authorized. A Canada whistle commissioner was proposed to combat weeds. Fred Hilmer of Highlawn was appointed.
