Dr. Bambon reports from Rome that maize does not cause pellagra. The disease is spread by the gimulium repans, a biting gnat, per a Field committee telegraph. The tuberculosis note says 45 years to provide for indigent consumptives with 900,000 needful beds but only 22,720 exist across 294 institutions. May 1, 1909, totals show 15,244 beds in 294 institutions. 30 increase, 99 institutions, 7,500 beds in the national association report.
