Riverdale Man to Instruct Firemen in Civilian Defense
Riverdale civilian defense director Robert Henricks announced appointing Robert Reynolds of 14437 LaSalle to attend the Office of Civilian Defense school in Battle Creek Michigan. Reynolds, a 30 year old IIT mechanical engineer, will study radiological monitoring and return to train Riverdale volunteers and police in radioactivity detection.

Older Brother Inspires Scout Honor Award
Eagle Scout Jack Alan Booth earned the Bronze Palm and was elected to the Order of the Arrow, the campers fraternity, as a younger scout under thirteen. His older brother Tod McLain Booth, also an Eagle, holds Bronze and Gold Palm and serves as secretary of Potawatomi Chapter of the Order of the Arrow Pokagon Lodge. Divers Help Dolton Riverdale Rescue
Divers from Dolton and Riverdale Fire departments searched a water-filled excavation near Calumet Expressway and Greenwood Road in Dolton for 16 year old Richard Pollack who drowned while swimming with teens. Firefighters recovered Pollack after almost two hours as police questioned Allen McReynolds who said he saw a boy go under water but believed it was a prank.
