Illinois Sets 1931 License Plates Color Scheme
Secretary of State William J. Stratton announced the 1931 Illinois license plates will feature black letters on light green. The W. F. Robertson Steel & Tron Co of Springfield Ohio won the contract at about seven and nine tenths cents per pair, cheaper than last year. The program includes delivery to the state house and post office, with a new factory inspection of steel and paint. The first order covers 1 400 000 passenger and 225 000 truck plates, with additional plates possible at the same price. Administrative costs per car are quoted as 3.5 cents, funded from the general revenue.
