Dalton Village Board Sets Tax, Saloons, and Streets Plan
Dalton Village Board met Monday with all members present. The finance committee presented a new tax levy ordinance and the clerk’s salary was raised ten dollars monthly. Attorney Verhoeven’s bill was approved for payment. Drainage, sidewalks, and street weed control were discussed with plans to hire out-of-town help if needed. A four inch water main and fire hydrant were proposed, bids to be published. A local fruit dealer complained of peddlers selling short measures. An ordinance to limit saloons was deferred. Dog taxes were challenged and referred to the Attorney. Funeral of Jacob Baecker noted. he died in Munster, Indiana aged 67.
