Calumet Canal flow to be unblocked by U S action
Uncle Sam will allow ample Lake Michigan water to flow through the Calumet channel now under construction by Chicago's sanitary district. Officials say they will drop a pending Federal Circuit suit to reduce the present 5000 cubic feet per second flow. They note lake levels rose compared with ten years prior and that soundings along the Calumet river are collecting data for bids on the canal work. Workers have been in Riverdale these weeks. Maybe we'll get the canal yet and keep looping.
