He leaves a widow, seven children, 22 grandchildren, and siblings, with funeral services held at First Christian Reformed Church. Gerrit Pals, a retired South Holland farmer, died at noon at home aged 67. He leaves a wife, two daughters, a son, a grandson, and siblings. services were at the Reformed church with burial in Hazel Wood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Bachmann Funeral Home.

N. J. Paarlberg received a February 15 letter from friend Werman Bakker in Florida announcing he won an angling contest in Miami aboard the June Ruth. A Florida clipping credited Herman Bakker of South Holland Ill. as champion angler for the largest grouper. the catch totaled an octopus and 65 grouper.
