A price hike effective March 1 announces new license costs for 1952 Dalton vehicle owners. Passenger car licenses rise from 5.00 to 7.00, with Class B trucks increasing from 7.00, and a discount of 82.00 offered until March 1.

Fred Ehlert Backed by Civic Party for H S Board

Fred T. Ehlert 1412 S Dearborn Riverdale is supported by the Civic Party of Riverdale for the Thornton Township High School Board election held on Saturday March th. An ex assistant superintendent at Acme Steel for fifteen years he is active in Riverdale Dolton civic affairs and has long lived in the area. He played high school football and baseball locally and pro football with the Hammond Indiana Bulldogs in the National Football League. He has served as Chief of Police in Dolton and director of Civic Defense in Riverdale and remains active in local civic groups. He and his wife have three children attending Thornton Township schools. The board will expand to seven members this year representing Riverdale Dolton South Holland Harvey HunzelcrestTamewood and Flossmoor. The Civic Party cites his past cooperation with civic promotions and argues the community needs township and county representation.

Strike at Acme Steel Riverdale Plant Disrupts Output

A production and maintenance strike at Acme Steel Company's Riverdale plant was called by Local 1043 of the United Steelworkers at 6 09 AM Tuesday over incentives in the galvanizing department. About 120 workers are involved. union and company officials meet to settle issues and resume production. The firm is a major Midwest producer of hot and cold rolled strip steel.

Police Chiefs Host State Meeting in Calumet City

Boy Dies After Being Struck by Car in Riverdale

Nine year old James LeRoy Adams of 336 East 136th Street Riverdale died en route to hospital after a car struck him on 198th near State Street in Riverdale Friday night February 15 at 9 15 p.m. The driver Henry Price 43 of 6305 S Elizabeth Street Chicago was exonerated by a coroner s jury Saturday morning February 16. He was not held. James LeRoy Adams born February 20 1943 in Chicago Funeral services were held February 8 at 2 p.m. from Barchmann funeral home with Rev Raymond Reich officiating Interment was in Chapel Hills Gardens South He is survived by two sisters Sharon Jene and Vicki Sue.
