Dolton Village Board Meets Under Lincoln Day Schedule

The Dolton Village Board held its weekly session with President Harris present and Trustee Connors absent. A request from realtor H W Nydick about sewer issues on Chicago Road and Sibley boulevard was heard but no action taken after Engineer Suhr’s report. A note indicates money was reported stolen from the collector and a continuation on page 5.

Veteran engineer stricken with appendicitis aboard train

Stricken Dalton locomotive engineer Thomas Harper of the C and E I suffered an appendicitis attack while at the throttle last Sunday afternoon. He halted the train at the old malt house, uncoupled, and returned the engine to Yard Center. Harper was taken to St Francis hospital Blues Island where an immediate operation was performed and reports state his condition is excellent.

Birthday Celebrations for Dolton Janitor William J Albrecht

William J Albrecht longtime Lincoln Avenue school janitor in Dolton celebrated his 62nd birthday at home with a large gathering of relatives and friends. His son Henry 32 and grandson Arthur Jr 2 shared the Feb 9 birthday as well. A surprise party at Immanuel church parlors followed, presenting a merschaum pipe and other gifts to the beloved community figure.

Village board orders payment of vehicle licenses in Riverdale. Auto plates cost $5. Trucks up to 2 tons pay $10, over 2 tons pay $20. Oswald Obeldobel is the collector.

Banquet Planned by Dalton Riverdale Chamber With Chicago Group

The Dalton Riverdale Chamber of Commerce will hold a banquet Tuesday evening Feb 28 at St Pauls school auditorium in conjunction with the Chicago Golden Gate Association. Rabies Alert Urges Strong Dog Control in Cook County

The Cook County Health Department warns of a rabies emergency as many dogs cats and rats are infected. It urges village authorities to pass strong dog ordinances licensing muzzling and vaccination and notes county quarantine orders preventing animal shipping without approval. The state may order dogs to be confined or killed and owners fined up to 50 dollars.

Roseland Pumping Station Shutdown Notice Issued

The Chicago Department of Public Works warns Riverdale to expect the Roseland pumping station to shut down from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Feb 23 24. Water pressure will be greatly reduced during the outage, and consumers should conserve water and be notified widely.

Village Board to Install New Meters at Several Plants

The Riverdale Village Board in regular session heard a report from Neptune Meter Co. on industrial meters at several plants that were out of order and will shut water off Feb 23 and 24 for meter work. The board also discussed drainage and street maintenance including slag on 138th street and raising a tracks.
