Veteran engineer stricken with appendicitis aboard train
Stricken Dalton locomotive engineer Thomas Harper of the C and E I suffered an appendicitis attack while at the throttle last Sunday afternoon. He halted the train at the old malt house, uncoupled, and returned the engine to Yard Center. Harper was taken to St Francis hospital Blues Island where an immediate operation was performed and reports state his condition is excellent.

William J Albrecht longtime Lincoln Avenue school janitor in Dolton celebrated his 62nd birthday at home with a large gathering of relatives and friends. His son Henry 32 and grandson Arthur Jr 2 shared the Feb 9 birthday as well. A surprise party at Immanuel church parlors followed, presenting a merschaum pipe and other gifts to the beloved community figure.

Rabies Alert Urges Strong Dog Control in Cook County
The Cook County Health Department warns of a rabies emergency as many dogs cats and rats are infected. It urges village authorities to pass strong dog ordinances licensing muzzling and vaccination and notes county quarantine orders preventing animal shipping without approval. The state may order dogs to be confined or killed and owners fined up to 50 dollars.
