Four Killed in Wichert Area Car Crash

The German family of William German perished or were injured when their car skidded on a wet road south of Wichert last Saturday. Mrs German, a four year old girl, and a son died at the scene. Mr German and a thirteen year old son were hospitalized in Kankakee with the father dying Monday morning. Funeral services were held in Milford. The family had resided in Yard Center for years.

Biossat urges road work for Calumet Harbor access

Harry A Biossat, representing Mayor Thompson, told the county road and bridges committee to push paving for Calumet Harbor access. He named Cottage Grove avenue 115th to 138th, State street 115th to 138th, and 138th street from Cottage Grove to State as key links totaling 12 miles. The panel said these roads will be paved 20 feet wide this year with space to widen later.

Legion to Honor Past Leaders With Gold Lapel Buttons

Legion posts will award gold lapel buttons bearing the insignia to seven past commanders and six past adjutants of Paul Gall Post at the close of next Tuesday evening's meeting at the clubhouse. Caldwell named to school board by Mayor Thompson

H Wallace Caldwell, Dalton area property holder and Calumet Harbor committee member, was appointed to the city school board by Mayor William Hale Thompson. The move comes as Coath nears the end of his term. Caldwell resigns from Lincoln Park board and brings engineering and real estate expertise to the panel.
