Propper enters Republican bid for State Legislature
Attorney William F. Propper of Dalton filed petitions with over fifteen hundred signers on February 7 at Springfield to run as State Representative from the Seventh Senatorial District in Cook County. He is the only south of LaGrange candidate seeking the office, arguing southern representation in the General Assembly. Propper, a 1926 1930 GA member, will not seek re election as Thornton township Republican committeeman, clearing the field for James Gouwens to become township GOP committeeman.

Plan Defense Homes Project for Dolton
Dolton village board heard plans from Teninga and Company to build thirteen defense homes on Indiana Avenue between 142nd and 144th streets with around one hundred lots in the subdivision. The homes will be four to six rooms and erected under the federal housing program with work to start soon. The project would be the village’s largest home-building effort and bring community benefits. The board also adopted a resolution opposing Illinois Central Railroad’s proposed ten percent commuter fare increase and sent copies to the railroad and the Illinois Commerce Commission for action effective March 4.

Mrs. Nancy West Rites Held in Dolton Funeral
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy West 13820 Kanawha Avenue Dolton were conducted Tuesday from the residence with Rev Milton Freeman of First Methodist Church Delton officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Park cemetery. Born May 29 1870 in Ontario Canada she had lived in Dolton 38 years and died February 7 at St Francis hospital Blue Island.
