Death of Dolton Resident John Messerschmidt at 67
John Messerschmidt of Dolton died Saturday December 8 after a throat illness. Born March 30 1861 in Allendorf Germany he came to America in 1883. Survived by widow Katherine and five sons and five daughters with numerous grandchildren. funeral held at St Pauls Lutheran church and interment at Oakland cemetery conducted by Rev Kemnitz.

Tragedy Strikes South Chicago Heights Kursed Driving Incident
Thomas Scanlon a Chicago Heights Star pressman was killed near Commercial avenue and the highway after a gunmen ambush. Alvin Soderberg escaped with minor injuries as special police briefly patrolled the roads. A second motorist Carl Kick Horn also escaped when bullets hissed past. Police face difficulty identifying the armed patrols blamed for the shooting.
