Flyer Collides With Car Denying Fatalities at Crossing

At dawn a C E L Flyer No 10 struck a Ford touring car driven by Henry Honing on Lincoln Avenue near Hammond. Honing escaped with a gash after the car was crushed. the flyer halted near the Calumet river bridge. No fatalities were reported as bystanders and crew aided the scene.

Public Service to Move Headquarters From Chicago Heights

The Public Service company plans to relocate its district F headquarters to Harvey within the next two years. District superintendent W C Dowdy said no definite date is set, with construction delaying the move for at least a year after purchasing a Harvey site. The shift aims to center operations and cut transport costs for crews, as Harvey sits nearer the district center than Chicago Heights. Also included are brief classified notices for real estate and a grey enamel cook stove for sale.

Cream Test Too Low Fined in Butter Fat Case

James Hantzos proprietor of the Blue Island Restaurant was fined 15 dollars plus costs by Judge Frank J. Synakiewicz on charges of serving cream with only seven percent butter fat. The state requires eighteen percent. State Inspector Woodward ordered shredded wheat and cream and then tested the cream for fat content.

Health Clinic Held Under Tuberculosis Institute Support

Dr. Hiram Bay presides over monthly clinics in Dolton Village Hall Health Center on Fridays from 10 to 12. The December 16 session offers free advice to residents without doctors, financed by Christmas seal sales and local contributions. A nurse works Tuesdays and Fridays with Iva Lehman as relief nurse until a permanent appointment.

New Sanitary District Proposed for Hammond Highland Munster

Hammond Highland and Munster seek to form a sanitary district to divert Lake Michigan sewage for water purification. Petitions with sufficient signatures will be filed with the county clerk for a boundary hearing. An election within sixty days will decide the district’s creation with a yes or no vote.

Supreme Court backs Dolton paving width dispute

The Forest avenue paving plan in Dolton proceeds as planned after the state supreme court last week dismissed the appeal by property owners led by Dr. C. H. Thomson. They argued a narrower pavement would reduce costs, but the county court and appellate path ended without success.
