Dalton Board Keeps Water Rate for South Holland Unchanged

The Dalton board met in regular session with President Dickelman presiding. They upheld the ordinance rate for South Holland’s water, noting Dalton’s water account is in deficit and that South Holland must pay the established game rate. Riverdale Board met in regular session with all members present. President Price presided. Bishop reported committee purchased manhole covers to replace a broken one on 144th street and an extra for emergency use. Woosnam noted a broken light post on School street between 1438rd and 144th street caused by an auto. responsible party expressed willingness to pay.

Park Proves Worth As Dolton Community Spot

Dolton residents welcomed a new 20 acre park east of Chicago Street School featuring four tennis courts, playgrounds, a brick park house with lavatory, skating pond in winter, drinking fountains and seating. The park board led by Wm J Haney and Frank C Wulff has spent years developing the space, inviting families and clubs to enjoy picnics and recreation.

New Voter Registration Law Requires In-Person Registration

The last session passed a law requiring Cook County voters outside Chicago to register on September 27 or October 7 1930 to be eligible to vote in the November 4 election. Voters must register in person on those days and cannot vote by affidavit. The measure also covers registration for county towns and districts and affects the statewide referendum and income tax questions.

Legion Notes Carnival Ends with Gratifying Proceeds

The carnival concluded last Sunday, with proceeds satisfactory though not as high as before. Paul Gall Post members and the Post Band worked seven nights to ensure success, aided by Auxiliary ladies. Donations came from those unable to attend, and the band invites new members as rehearsals continue each Monday at the Dug Out, led by L Edward Brookfelt.
