Rates for Public Service Company of Northern Illinois
Beginning in 1914 labor and material costs rose steadily. The Public Service Company of Northern Illinois kept rates flat for six years except for wholesale power gas and heating. Coke fuel changed from Kanawha at 4.75 to Connellsville at 15.50 per ton. Oil quality declined from gas oil 2-3 cents to fuel oil 10-12 cents per gallon, limiting production and raising costs.
