Letter From John Hruby Bass Lake News Aug 1920
John Hruby writes from Bass Lake Minnesota on Aug 1 1920 describing home town news in the timber country. He notes the area as a summer resort with opportunity for ambitious men and a Clover country renowned for potatoes. He observes bass fishing boating and bathing now with hunting to follow and reports road building and government land sales nearby. He mentions patchy timber land farming prospects five acres cleared per forty with two acres cropped and woodman life intriguing to city readers. He recounts blueberry picking prompting cooking and baby care, praises the Ford for travel on rough roads and notes a 500 mile journey with his brother in law as they prepare to return to Dalton.
