Riverdale to Host Big Homecoming for Elizabeth Robinson

A regional planning effort spans Riverdale Dalton and nearby towns for an August homecoming honoring Elizabeth Robinson, celebrating with a large parade, decorated streets, and a street dance. Organizers including Wm A Reich and J M Deam rally community support and invite former residents to attend.

Community plans big parade for war free celebration

Chairman Reich reports John Connors will lead finance while coordinating a large volunteer list to be made into a roll of honor for Elizabeth’s celebration. Local groups including the Ivanhoe Civic Club South End Chamber and American Legion units pledge support with a 45 piece drum corps and Harvey’s parade plans.

Still Winning Supers extend streak with ten straight wins

The Ivanhoe Supers remain on top after a Sunday win over Thornston, pushing their lead to two games. Chicago Heights were routed by the Harvey Pirates, while the Matteson Anchors defeated Lansing, dropping them three games back. Fred Bruhn made a stellar defensive play and doubled twice in three at bats, as Struss earned the win with 12 strikeouts.

Dolton Appointed Assistant Superintendent in Chicago

Belle Dolton and Farragut Elementary principal Isabelle Dolton named among four assistant superintendents by Superintendent Bogan. Dolton replaces Morgan G. Hogge who oversaw evening schools Americanization and athletics. The appointment brings a higher salary and greater responsibility in the Chicago school system.

Little Theatre Players Meeting Postponed

The joint meeting of the Little Theatre Players and American Legion Committee slated for Friday August 10 at the Legion dugout is postponed to August 31 due to a public meeting tonight to plan greeting Miss Elizabeth Robinson. The Coldale Independent Odd Fellows Club will meet at the Dugout Friday evening August 17 and all three link men are urged to attend. A lunch will be provided by a volunteer committee and a good time is promised for all.

Mr and Mrs Eric Anderson of Ivanhoe announce the birth of a 10-pound boy on August 8. The newborn adds to the family and marks a joyful event for the couple and their household.
