Walther League to Stage Three Act Comedy at St Pauls

The Walther League presents the three act comedy Almost Summer at St Pauls auditorium on May 2 at 8 15 p m. Proceeds go to support various service projects for the Uncle Sam effort. The plot follows a Henry Aldrich style family with high school exams crushes and mistaken loves featuring Paul Bobbie Sellin Florence Fischer Edith Rampke Wallie Bachmann Siegel Bock Anna Marge Lorenzen Alma Kemnitz and others with music by the St Paul school band. Admission 35c and 15c with hearty laughs promised.

Acme Steel Promotes Avery and Huss to Board Posts

Stockholders at Acme Steel in Chicago elected two new directors at their April 21 meeting. Guy T. Avery of Riverdale NL and W. Sheridan Huss of the Central District join the board, filling vacancies from resignations and retirement. Avery joined Acme in 1920 and became Works Manager in 1941. Huss joined in 1919, became Assistant Sales Manager in 1929 and Sales Manager for the Central District in 1940.

Sugar rationing hours for registration in Dalton are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. South Holland residents in district 32-7 register at McKinley or Roosevelt school. District 32-5 use Bryant school Harvey. 32-11 use Coolidge school Phoenix. 32-4 Dolton use Berger school Dolton.

Lincoln PTA to Hear District Director May 5

Lincoln P T A will host Floyd Tucker district director as a guest speaker at the next regular meeting on Tuesday evening May 5 at 8 in the school music room. The event includes officer installations, entertainment by the Lincoln Tonette band and the Methodist church Junior choir, refreshments, and invites all parents and friends to attend the final meeting of the school year.

A Thornton township high school Harvey concert will be held Friday May 15 at 8 15 pm featuring the high school and junior college orchestra directed by William H Montelius the glee clubs and chorus under Armbruster and Miss Shawhan with student soloist Miss Mary Lou Van der Kloot performing Grieg Piano Concerto. About 340 students participate in orchestral and choral groups plus band and private lessons totaling around 500 in the music department weekly.

Plan Modernization of Heating System in Dolton Hall

Dolton village board met on Tuesday April 28 and asked Trustee Diekman to investigate modernizing the heating system in Dolton Hall to save fuel costs. The Public Service company may remove an old pole line on 144th street and replace it with new poles on the north side. Diekman plans street cleaning this week. Locher noted sidewalks needing repair. Fike said Lincoln avenue sewer from the C and W I railroad to Park avenue has been cleaned and more catch basins require cleaning to finish the job.

Spiecker-Berger Announces Dalton Marriage Arrangement

Mr and Mrs William Spiecker announce the marriage of their daughter Louie to Herbert W Berger son of Mr and Mrs Charles W Berger of Dalton. Herbert is stationed at Meridian Mississippi while awaiting orders to report to a flying cadet school. A Sunday evening gathering at the Spiecker home included relatives from Dolton and Chicago.

Approximately 833 men aged 45 to 65 registered Monday at Riverdale and Dalton schools plus several district stations. Chicago and suburban registrants numbered 448,319 and 82,221 respectively, with certificates required for proof of registration and later occupational questionnaires for those registered on April 27.

Delton Civilian Defense Organizes Nurse Aid and First Aid Training

The Emergency Medical Division prep for Nurses' Aid and First Aid courses in Delton. Nurses' Aid requires high school graduation and age up to 45 with hospital training.
