Riverdale village board ends term and reorganizes
The old Riverdale village board met last Tuesday approving powers for the Police Fire and Water Committee to sell the fire horse and buy a new one. A new board was organized with Reich Schafer Baumgartner and others appointed. A streetcar ordinance was held over for a special meeting. The Dalton board also met and set salaries, curfew whistle use, and plant staff changes. Found brindle cow near 147th street. building material business sale announced.

Hastern Illinois Railway Co Granted 50 Year Franchise
The Hastern Illinois Railway Co received a 50 year franchise from the Village of Riverdale on Thursday evening. The line is to be built and operating within a year with grading already begun on 147th Street. It will run between Hammond Dalton Riverdale and Harvey. Negotiations continue with Calumet Electric and the Illinois Central to cross Central tracks near Wildwood, with likely temporary arrangements soon.

Berger Home on the Ridge Burns in House Fire
The John Berger residence built over 60 years ago burned last Tuesday when a kitchen stove fire set wood and shingles in a woodbox behind it alight. Neighbors alerted the blaze but only furniture could be saved as relics and items on the upper floor were destroyed. Mr. Berger plans to rebuild, and the house had been uninsured after a lapse near renewal.

Obituary of Wilimina Rokasdena Kumerman Pioneer of Roseland
Wilimina Rokasdena Kumerman born in Holland on March 17 1835 died in Gano Chicago on April 18 1910 aged 75. She married Edward Housinger in 1859 and had twelve children plus three stepchildren. Funeral followed at Mt Greenwood Cemetery after a long life as a respected Roseland pioneer with 40 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Dr Morrison at Queen's Hospital Birmingham performed a cutting edge procedure on Charles Endall who suffered a gullet stricture after ingesting sulphuric acid instead of whisky.
