Killed A Rattler At Cogswell Farm

Oscar McKenzie of Moorhead Kentucky killed a very large rattlesnake on the Cogswell homestead. The serpent measured seven feet three inches with 27 rattles and a button. McKenzie shot it three times while hunting stray hogs and plans a belt from the skin.

Illinois Brick Co approves capital increase and stock dividend

The Illinois Brick Company directors meet on Tuesday March 22 to call for a $1,000,000 capital increase and announce a 25 percent stock dividend if a stockholders meeting to vote the proposal is held later. The move would raise authorized capital to $6,000,000 and 240,000 shares of $25 each. Current capitalization is $5,000,000 with 200,000 shares, of which $4,700,000 or 188,000 shares are outstanding. The extra $1,000,000 plus $300,000 in treasuries would cover the planned stock distribution.

Death of Joseph Koch In Chicago Area Community

Joseph Koch 23 died at Roseland Community Hospital after an appendectomy. He lived with his brother Carl Koch at 11317 Indiana Avenue and worked as a butcher for a Blue Island firm. A German immigrant about five years ago he came with relatives and made many friends in Dalton.

Dalton Village Board Plans Public Hearing On Sewer Contracts

The Dalton board revisited the southeastern sewer proposal, authorizing Finance Committee and Attorneys Propper and Maloney to review realtor contracts. If acceptable, contracts will be approved and a public hearing set for April 7. Other actions include sewer approval for Shepard subdivision, cement sidewalks awarded to A C Wesse and The John Macklar Co., and a dog muzzling order to curb street roaming amid anticipated growth.
