Cibola High School celebrates 26th homecoming week

CHS marks its 26th homecoming with a gym coronation for king and queen during an afternoon assembly. Queen candidates include Liz Belanger and Shannon Enochs among others. king candidates feature Tyler Albers and Chris Bitakis. Activities: powder puff game tonight at 7, pep rally tomorrow, homecoming game at Milne Stadium, and Saturday dance at 8 with $15 single or $25 couple tickets.

Freedom from Smoking clinic offered by American Lung Association

The American Lung Association will hold an eight-session Freedom from Smoking clinic starting October 7 at 216 Truman NE Albuquerque. The program runs through November 18 on Thursday nights with a $60 fee and limited space. For information call 265-0732.

Bingaman Announces Federal Payments to New Mexico Counties

U S Senator Jeff Bingaman said 32 New Mexico counties will share about 11.6 million dollars in federal payments in lieu of taxes for 1999. The program, run by the Bureau of Land Management, compensates counties for non taxable federal lands. Sandoval County receives 675,699 dollars in 1999 and 656,496 dollars in 1998.

Redmond Receives Eagle Award For Voting Record

Former U S Representative Bill Redmond was honored with the Associated Builders and Contractors Eagle Award for a 100 percent voting record on issues important to the group. The record covers laws such as the Working Families Flexibility Act Taxpayer Relief Act Fairness and Small Business and Employees Act and Campaign Finance Reform and Taxpayer Relief Act of 1998.
