Family keeps historic cars alive at Jet's Auto Museum

Melvonna Roy recalls buying her first car in 1971 a yellow 969 Mercury Cougar now valued around 35000 preserved at Jet's Auto Museum in Rio Rancho founded by her father Gah Joiner. The collection, over 70 vintage cars with stories from early to mid 1900s, attracts visitors who reminisce as Shane Roy and others share memories from the Great American Race and local life.

AMREP Faces Losses and Real Estate Struggles in Rio Rancho

AMREP reports 2009 and 2010 losses tied to Rio Rancho land sales and Intel job cuts. Per acre costs at Rancho rose to 920,000 in 2010 and 60,200 in 2008, with gross profits around 40 percent in 2009. The firm cites global economic weakness, tighter credit, and real estate declines as ongoing pressures on liquidity and future capital needs. The dispersed land holdings hinder efficient sale of lots, with 27,240 acres left in Rio Rancho from an original 81,000. Dividend payments have halted since 2006 and there is no assurance of future dividends.
