Rio Rancho Rep aims to cap PID debt millage by statute

New Mexico lawmaker Tim Lewis says a joint effort to curb PID tax spikes mirrors Mariposa East Public Improvements District troubles. After High Desert Investments halted 16 million bond payments, property taxes rose from 9 to 110 mils. The issue, to be reviewed Oct 1 and Oct 9 by interim committees, seeks a millage cap on general obligation bonds.

Rio Rancho considers changes to sign ordinance

The Rio Rancho Governing Body plans changes to the sign ordinance and votes on a moratorium on impact fees tonight at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall. First of two readings address mobile signs, sign faces, temporary signs, and removal by Code Enforcement following council member Chuck Wilkins proposed amendments.

Bark in the Park event promotes puppy up against cancer

The 14th annual Bark in the Park runs 10 am to 2 pm at Olympus Park on Quantum Drive next to the Rio Rancho Police Department. Enchantment Pet Resort and Spa hosts with 38 vendors selling pet jewelry beds portraits and microchips while food vendors and Out of the Blue perform. Activities include lure chasing contests, best kiss and trick, Enchantment Express train rides, face painting, and meetings with rescue groups and 2MillionDogs. Proceeds benefit the USC AR Foundation and cancer research funding noted by Luke Robinson.
