Bicycle Helmets Save Lives Campaign Message

A public safety note urges riders to wear bicycle helmets to prevent head injuries. Data from 1988 shows over 600,000 ER treatments for bicycle accidents and about 1,800 deaths, with children accounting for nearly half. About 80 percent of fatalities stem from head injuries, and doctors say helmet use could halve such injuries.
