Free flu shots offered by FHP Health Care this Saturday

FHP Health Care will provide free flu shots for adults 18 and older on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the FHP Rio Rancho Medical Center, 3715 Southern Blvd. The Rio Rancho Kiwanis Club hosts its 4th annual Chili Feed and Dance on Oct. 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Italian American Club to benefit the Westside Boys and Girls Club, with a $7.50 admission and live big band by the Westside Sound Orchestra. Tickets at the door or from Kiwanis members. call 892-2069 for details. Last year the event raised $2,000. The Corrales Community Library presents The Conway Puppet Caravan showing I Love Nature and Coyote, Who are You? on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. This free program for all ages is sponsored by Friends of the Corrales Library. call 897-0733 for more information.

Free influenza shots offered to Rio Rancho residents

A Rio Rancho flu shot drive runs at the FHP of New Mexico center for adults 18 and older on October 28 from 10 am to 2 pm and again October 31 from 8:30 to 11:30 am and 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Seniors 65 plus or with chronic conditions may receive free vaccination, with transportation from Meadowlark Senior Center to City Hall and to the Center.

Honor Guard to sponsor Veterans Day ceremony

The Rio Rancho Veterans Honor Guard will sponsor Veterans Day ceremonies at Vista Verde Memorial Park on Sara Road Saturday Nov 11. Units assemble 10 30 a m with services at 10 40 a m. Mayor Swisstack to present a proclamation and Rep Schiff to speak on veterans affairs in Congress. Public invited. Call 892 1437 to attend.

Rio Rancho library department renames to information services

The Rio Rancho Library Department becomes the Department of Library and Information Services to reflect its broader information dissemination role. City officials say the change costs nothing and preserves the Rio Rancho Public Library name for the facility. The council approved the change unanimously.
