City expands Unit 16 West land grab in Rio Rancho

The Rio Rancho City Council voted to expand the Unit 16 West redevelopment by 87 acres along Southern Boulevard and Golf Course Road, advancing a $400 million project over 10 to 12 years. Developer Hart Porsch plans 600 apartments, 700 duplexes and 2,500 single family homes, funded via upfront city purchases of private land at fair market value.

Bond funds fuel two middle schools in Rio Rancho plan

Rio Rancho Public Schools say a $27.1 million bond allocated $17 million for a high school but Intel’s $30 million offer frees funds to build two middle schools. Combined construction saved millions versus separate builds. two schools bid at just over $17 million, total projected cost over $20 million with taxes fees and furnishings.

Rio Rancho approves 7.9 million IRBs for FULCRUM Capital Partners

Rio Rancho City Council tentatively approves 7.9 million Industrial Revenue Bonds for FULCRUM Capital Partners to fund a 79,200 square foot children's clothing distribution center at Enchanted Hills NM 528 NM 44. The project will create about 330 jobs initially and up to 600 by 2000. Bonds allow tax exempt operation for 25 years with payments in lieu of taxes to the school district, while the city loses property tax revenue but gains economic benefit per city analysis.
