Music on the Phil Mead Stage 11:30 to 1 with Jeez LaWeez Saturday and Ellery Rose Sunday. No admission or parking fees. Rio Rancho Art Association hangs Landscapes of the Southwest exhibit at Esther Bone Memorial Library through Nov 6.
Gene Grant host of New Mexico in Focus at KNME TV Albuquerque will speak at Esther Bone Memorial Library on Tuesday October 9 at 630 PM. His talk titled Decision 2016 will analyze national elections and candidate roles while addressing governance polarization and possible Washington outcomes.
The Balloon Museum hosts a free two day Festival of Flight on Oct 12 and 13 from 7 am to 4 pm with Edu/interactive exhibits, live music by Trio Latino and others, Kite clubs, TAAS, and hands on Balloon Explorium. Saturday includes Furry Friends Fiesta Day hosted by Travelin Jack. Proceeds aid animals. museum hours extend Fiesta week and admission varies by resident status.
Jeez LaWeez, an all girl trio, performs in Rio Rancho at the Loma Colorado Main Library on October 24 from 6:30 to 7:45 PM. The event features smart original songs and cover versions, with three part harmonies and strong musicianship. Admission is free, funded by the Friends of the Library of Rio Rancho, Inc.
Coronado State Monument hosts Fiesta of Cultures on October 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with fine artists and craftspeople native and old world life demonstrations pottery firing Spanish dancers a Mariachi band a baby llama and conquisadors. Admission is free. attractions include a kids table tours of murals in the painted kiva and a gift shop at 485 Kuana Road Bernalillo 1.5 miles west of I-25 exit 242 off US 550.
The famed Mexican singer Joan Sebastian will headline a December 14 show at Santa Ana Star Center starting 8 p.m. The Latin pop ranchera and grupera artist released the album Un Lujo on May 22, a collaborative project with Lucero. Tickets are available at the Star Center box office, Star Rewards Club, El Mezquite Market locations, online at comcasttix.com, or by calling 888-694-4849.
A new exhibit features 12 artists using photography oils acrylics watercolors pastels printmaking and mixed media. Named participants include Paige Bacon Ginnie Brown Meridith Chapman Adriana Chard Bob Crowley Thea Morton Carmen Perez Fran Ryan Luke Renberg Nora Sanders Carole Santaguilani and Sharon Wilson. ARAA supports library events and has presented these exhibits at Esther Bone for over four years.
