Planning and Zoning Approves Subdivision with Buffer Need

The Rio Rancho planning commission unanimously approved a subdivision plan noting a required buffer between commercial and residential areas and examining open space along the Rio Grande. Mary Mason urged a footpath entrance and southern park parking. Estimated full occupancy reaches 2,200 residents, raising concerns about NM528 traffic and future city growth. The commission also discussed home occupancy rules, approved four conditional use permits, and tabled a rear-yard setback variance. Two hearings were canceled for nonappearance.

Corrales Council Considers Photocopy Fees and Village Needs

The Corrales village council discussed establishing photocopy fees of 20 cents for the first five pages and 50 cents for each additional page at the office complex. They planned a future resolution and urged residents to use library or commercial outlets for copy requests. The meeting also covered NMCA funding for a proposed village complex, a possible community water system, and engineering guidelines with a highest-scoring firm to be selected. Officials approved drafting road-dedication policies, noted new bosque gates, AMREP land talks, and in staffing, with holiday travel cautions after a recent fatal crash and increased area incidents. Office closures were set for November 27-29 for Thanksgiving inventory.
