RRUC water rate case fight not over

Rio Rancho officials file exceptions to a hearing examiner’s RRUC water and sewer rate recommendations. The move targets procedural issues, not the rate increases, which PSC staff had proposed lowering from RRUC requests. City Attorney Bruce Throne said the commission must rule by Dec. 7. if not, RRUC’s higher rates could take effect.

Reasons for recall effort undisclosed in Rio Rancho

The Rio Rancho Taxpayers Association will not publish the list of reasons behind the recall of five city councilors. President Morris Gusowsky said the list will be given only to those directly involved with petitions. Targeted are councilors Minor Zander Cordova Popper Slezak. Dymale and Mayor D Arco are not named. Meetings remain open to the public.

Waste Management of New Mexico seeks 2.6% rate hike

Waste Management of New Mexico asks for a 2.6 percent across-the-board rate increase for residential and commercial customers. The proposal will be reviewed by the Rio Rancho City Council at a 6 p.m. meeting Wednesday at City Hall.

Council Preview on Waste Management Rate Hikes

The five year contract with Waste Management auto raises rates in 1993 and 1995 based on CPI. The CPI was 3.1 percent for the June to June period. In 1994 and 1996 increases depend on Rio Rancho rates being below similar cities. A 2.6 percent rise would lift basic service from 7.99 to 8.20 monthly before taxes.

AeroParts breaks ground in Rio Rancho NM tech center

AeroParts Inc moves to New Mexico to build a 130000 square foot facility near NM 528 south of Northern Boulevard. Ground broken Monday, expected operational early next year. About 100 high tech positions to start at 7 to 10 dollars an hour. City and state agencies plus power company back the project, with Rio Rancho approving 3.5 million in industrial revenue bonds.
