Rio Rancho Moves Toward Impact Fees for New Development
Rio Rancho plans to implement Impact Fees starting July 1995 under New Mexico’s Development Fees Act. The fees will fund long life city facilities like water, roads, and police buildings, while exemptions exclude existing structures and operating costs. AMREP and other builders will be affected as fees apply to all new construction, altering prior negotiated development agreements. Municipal leaders seek amendments to allow funds for libraries and schools.
