Governing body OKs chickens and goats in Rio Rancho
Rio Rancho city council approved an ordinance allowing up to seven hens or immature roosters on lots of at least a half acre in estate and single family zones. Enclosures must be 15 feet from property lines. The rule becomes effective 10 days after adoption and also permits up to three goats.

Rio Rancho officials gave preliminary approval to raises for police officers and dispatchers and a two year $100,000 contract for a commercial consultant. City breaks ground for Broadmoor extension
