Paradise Hills Population Reaches 3500 in NM

Horizon Corporation reports the two New Mexico communities Paradise Hills and Rio Communities now house an estimated 6 100 residents total with 3 500 in Paradise Hills and 1 628 in Rio Communities Housing unit completions at end of April totaled 966 in Paradise Hills and 662 in Rio Communities Paradise Hills includes 831 single family homes and 135 apartment units Rio Communities lists 441 single family homes 119 townhouses 31 apartments and 71 mobile homes in Vista del Rio mobile home park.

Pot Luck Supper Planned in Rio Rancho May 22

The Community Christian Sing sponsors a pot luck supper in Rio Rancho on May 22 at 6 15 PM in the Haynes Recreation Center. A 7 30 PM Christian singing program follows with a talk by Louis Zaccone of Rio Rancho.

Corrales Fire Dept Issues Emergency Call Instructions

The Corrales Fire District has issued new guidance to residents to dial 898-0401 for emergencies instead of 911 to speed response. Firefighter Al Rodriguez warns that using 911 delays a reply as calls are relayed through Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, often causing misdirected responses and longer flames. He urges residents to note landmark-based home directions and keep the local number handy.

Civic Association meeting features music and song night

The Rio Rancho Homeowners' Civic Association hosts a May 20 gathering with Ray Sherman of the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera and artists from the company. They perform excerpts from Sound of Music Applause and Kiss Me Kate for Rich Rancho residents in attendance.

West Mesa High ROTC program grows with cadet involvement

West Mesa High School continues its NJROTC program now nearing five years. 100 boys and 57 girls participate in the three year elective course focusing on naval science with no military obligation. Cadets attended a San Diego mini boot camp with 600 cadets, including 25 percent girls, and funds from fundraisers covered the military ball and trip costs.
