Rio Rancho Man Charged With Beating Daughter and Injuring Officer

Timmy L. Parsons, 45, faces two counts of child abuse a count of aggravated battery on a police officer and criminal damage after police say he assaulted his 17 year old daughter and threatened his younger daughter. An officer was struck and another pinned during the arrest. The 19 year old caller reported the incident and a hospital visit followed for the officer. Parsons was jailed and the teens placed with a family friend.

Public safety open house showcases gear and crews

Rogers invites the public to a safety event to see tools and equipment, meet police, firefighters, and deputies. Attendees can view police dogs, helicopters, a new patrol car, a mobile command post, and recruiting booths. Food vendors and Star Wars characters will also be present for family fun.

New Mexico Legislature Enables Public Employee Catastrophic Sick Leave

Superintendent Sue Cleveland explains House Bill 403 allows public workers to donate sick leave within their organization to others. The plan, already used by ARPS and Albuquerque Public Schools, requires a provider’s illness proof, one year of service, no other pay, full exhaustion of sick days, and a donor minimum 400 hours not dropping below 320.

Rio Rancho outdoor pools open May 23 for summer season

City pools Haynes Community Center Rainbow Cabezon Recreation Center open May 23 through August 16 with daily recreation swims and weekend laps. Rainbow offers weekday hours and weekend laps. Cabezon and Haynes provide daily or weekend schedules. Indoor Rio Rancho Aquatic Center extends summer hours May 26 to Aug 9 with maintenance closures on July 4 and Aug 10–14. Water fees: four dollars for adults, three dollars for children ages 2–12 and seniors 55+. For programs, rentals, and details call 891-5230 or visit the city website.

Free summer meal program starts May 26 in Rio Rancho

The city launches a federally funded Summer Food Service Program for children 18 and under from May 26 to August. Meals are free at six Rio Rancho sites Monday through Friday with breakfast and lunch times listed. Service is first come, first served and meals follow USDA guidelines with milk fruit juice and meat options. For more details call 891-5015.

Conference from PAGE 1 RRHS Hosts Service Conference
