Rio Rancho Councilor Chuck Wilkins urged county and city leaders to ask voters to cut the 4.25 mill hospital levy and reduce the higher education gross receipts tax to 0.00125 percent. He would reuse the funds for police, fire, street paving, and other infrastructure, citing impact on Rust Medical Center and UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center.
