Cleveland High coach Brian Smith resigns for Irvine Portola
Cleveland High School varsity boys basketball coach Brian Smith announced his resignation after 11 seasons to take a coaching and teaching post at Brand-new Portola High School in Irvine California. He led Cleveland to a 2007 5A state title run and a 2015 title tilt while guiding Rio Rancho roots to success before joining CHS in 2009. The move shifts New California junior varsity then varsity duties to start at Portola with a focus on fundamentals as the district searches for his replacement.
