Rio Rancho to Launch Citys First Public Service Aide Program

Rio Rancho Police Department plans a full time public service aide position to support DWI vehicle seizure tasks and non officer duties. The entry level role targets individuals 18 and older with a diploma and driver's license, offering training and a pathway to police academy while freeing officers for higher skilled work. The $13.74 hourly post aims to recruit youths interested in law enforcement and may expand in the future.

ASK Academy breaks ground on 2.5 acre charter campus

Local dignitaries, students and parents joined ASK Academy representatives Friday to break ground for a permanent campus off Sundt Road near the Boys & Girls Club. The $7 million 38,000 square foot building will house STEM labs and classrooms and open in January serving grades six to 12. Co founders Dan Barbour and Paul Stephenson spoke of dreams realized and future enrollment of about 410 students. Groundbreaking was delayed from February 28 due to snow. Developer Steve Nakamura gifted the land.

Observer moves to new Rio Rancho offices in early May

Rio Rancho Observer announces a brand new, centrally located office space designed for efficiency. The move places editorial, advertising and admin teams closer to police and schools offices, with printing still at the Journal. Grand opening planned for early May invites the community.
