Rams repeat as APS Metro softball champions in locals win

Rio Rancho High School junior Victoria O Meara starred as the Rams beat Volcano Vista 7 2 at Lobo Field to capture the APS Metro title. O Meara doubled in the seventh and earlier tripled and scored, helping her team extend a lead while father Tim O Meara coaches Volcano Vista. Breonna Castaneda led Rams with three hits as Rio Rancho claimed its second APS crown in two years.

Storm softball falls to La Cueva in third-place game

Jones named Gatorade New Mexico Boys Basketball Player of the Year

Cleveland High School senior Ryan Jones earned the 2014-15 Gatorade New Mexico Boys Basketball Player of the Year, the first from Cleveland and the 12th Rio Rancho athlete to win. The 6-2 guard averaged 21 points and 4.5 rebounds, led the Storm to a 28-3 record and a Class 6A state final, and advances as a finalist for the national award.
