Laughter Night at Ana Star Casino Features Three Comedians

March 12 at The Stage Ana Star Casino hosts Mike James Brian Kohatsu and Mikey Mayes for Stand-up Comedy Thursdays. James a Phoenix based veteran comedian and corporate entertainer will share personal escapades. Kohatsu a lifelong writer and former director blends impressions with storytelling. Mayes, rising through open mics since 2012, performs across the Southwest. Doors open 6:30 p.m. with shows at 7:30.

Rio Rancho book sale and New Mexico gig at Santa Ana Star

The Friends of the Library of Rio Rancho host a monthly book sale at Loma Colorado Main Library today and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm offering thousands of books at 50 cents each. The DCN Project performs at Santa Ana Star Casino Lounge 54 tonight and Saturday at 9 pm with free admission for 21 plus. Irish coin program at Esther Bone Library hosts club members

Irish coins and currency will be explored by Peppy Wolff Deurloo John Fryar and Rod Frechette of the Albuquerque Coin Club at Esther Bone Memorial Library starting at 10 a.m. The library display case features Irish coins courtesy of the club. Don Bullis to Speak on New Mexico in Mexican Rule Era

The Friends of Coronado host Don Bullis at 2 p.m. to recount New Mexico under Mexican rule from 1821 to 1846. Bullis, first vice president of the Sandoval Historical Society, will discuss governance and life before New Mexico joined the United States on August 14, 1846. Escape Fridays at The Stage Santa Ana Star Casino

The Stage at Santa Ana Star Casino launches Escape Fridays every Friday night with DJ Devin and Chris de Jesus spinning house pop hip-hop and EDM. The night offers $4 drink specials and $10 cover for men while women enter free with a Facebook check-in. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Quilts Displayed in Placitas for National Month

Placitas Community Library hosts a March exhibit featuring six local quilters with works on view through March 31 during regular hours. Judith Roderick contributes two pieces titled Busy Ins Garden and Sunny Day, among other quilts by her fellow Placitas artists.

The Placitas Artist Series features quilts by Sheila Hibbitts and fellow quilters Patty Bracht Kathy Weil Jo Kobler Maris Mason and Jo Anne Fredrikson. The NMQA donates over 750 quilts yearly to area nonprofits and hospitals. A New Deal era art collection from 1933 to 1943 with Dorothea Lange photographs runs through March 31 at Loma Colorado Main Library.

Pueblo Byways exhibit at Coronado Historic Site features Dorothy Dunn prints

Coronado Historic Site unveils Pueblo Byways with watercolors from the Dorothy Dunn collection, including works by Vidal Casiquito Jr, Gilbert Atencio, Pablita Velarde, and Velino Shije Herrera. Visitors compare 200 century works with Kiva murals, learning artist stories. Admission $3. free for NM seniors on Wednesdays and NM residents on Sundays. exhibit through February 2016.
