Rio Rancho Lifts Boil Advisory After Pressure Restored

The City of Rio Rancho ended a boil water advisory for part of western Rio Rancho after five days as Well 14 pressure rose above 20 psi by linking to Well 8. Officials caution a full repair may take weeks while Well 13 is redrilled, with the pump failure still unexplained. A Arbor Day tree-planting event at Haynes Park will occur Friday from 3 to 4 30 p m with seedlings and educational talks from EMNRD and city staff. A free business forum at City Hall on March 19 from 10 a m to noon is hosted by multiple groups to help start and grow Rio Rancho ventures. Firefighters raise 55000 for St Baldrick's kids cancer research

Firefighters EMS police and others from the area raised 55000 for the St Baldrick's Foundation at the eighth annual New Mexico Firefighters Event held Sunday at Santa Ana Star Center. More than 100 people shaved heads as Rio Rancho Fire Rescue organized the fundraiser with Deputy Chief Paul Bearce noting expected donations in coming months.

Plea deal in drug sale to teen girl case

A Rio Rancho man pleaded guilty to attempting to distribute controlled substances to a minor in connection with a 2013 overdose death of 14-year-old Hannah Bruch. The deal caps his prison term at three years, reducing counts from three to one.

Local man donates kidney to niece in life changing act

Photographer J B Gallegos of Rio Rancho was inspired by his niece Stephanie Sniff a 2000 Rio Rancho High School graduate to donate a kidney. He believed helping her was the right choice despite personal risk. He learned of her kidney failure in early 2014 and faced odds of about one in twelve hundred that a donor would not make it.
