Dudding sculpture shines on summer solstice in Rio Rancho
Ten Rio Rancho residents gathered at City Hall on the summer solstice to witness the sun align with Jaymes Dudding’s city commissioned sculpture Chaco Rising. Dudding, a North Valley native and UNM graduate, completed the piece in 2008 after a three month gestation from commission to installation.

Councilors weigh impact fee moratorium in Rio Rancho
Three speakers urged suspension or waiver of impact fees during a Rio Rancho Governing Body work session on impact fees and economic development. Corrales bosque fire nearly doused after rapid response
Firefighters contained the Romero Fire near Corrales within 24 hours with 80 percent containment by Thursday. The blaze burned 5.7 acres west of the Rio Grande and 288 acres on the east side near Sandia Pueblo. No injuries or structures lost, but about 80 residents with health risks evacuated. Agencies including Sandoval and Bernalillo counties, Albuquerque, State Forestry, 10 Rio Rancho crews, and tribal land crews fought the fire with air support. FEMA approved a grant covering up to 75 percent of eligible response costs.
