Troop 714 Campout Near Los Alamos Highlights Scout Skills

Santa Clara Lake near Los Alamos hosted Troop 714 summer campout June 12 to 14. Fifteen of nineteen active scouts enjoyed fishing despite rain, with Eagle Scout Donnie McGrath outfishing Scoutmaster Joe Ingoglia two to one and Joe’s son losing his rod. Leaders led early setup for inexperienced scouts, stresses on camping rules and the Outdoor Code, tag games between showers, and a Flag Day ceremony at the Rio Rancho Elks. Future events include CPR training June 29 at Paradise Hills Fire House and a July 12-18 summer camp in the Pecos Mountains near Chimayo, NM.

Rio Rancho plans sixteen teen dances on city hall lot

Rio Rancho Recreation Department and Public Safety team up to host sixteen teen dances from 7 to 11 p.m. on the west parking lot of City Hall twice monthly. Each $250 sponsorship covers music speakers and a disc jockey, with several dates already sponsored and open slots in August and September.
