Corrales Residents Build Gypsy Wagons
Corrales residents Doug Findley Heidi Findley and Don Campbell built two Gypsy caravan wagons over six months. The wagons use old chassis one from an omnibus and a one room house on top. They plan to finish mid summer and use the wagons as living quarters while traveling. They are in a bluegrass group the Clear Ditch Ramblers. They consider rubber tires for long trips and continue touring with the wagons.

Plans for a permanent Jemez Lake recreation area
Lake future appears distant with at least two years needed for a permanent lake and recreation area at Jemez Reservoir. Albuquerque’s water supply is ample so reservoir use is not essential. The city negotiates with the Corps of Engineers, Santa Ana Pueblo, and the Rio Grande Compact Commission to establish the site for recreation, with federal grants covering structures and the city paying compensation to the Pueblo. If successful, Jemez would become the nearest recreational lake for Albuquerqueans.

Floodwater Construction Begins in Sandoval District
Jorgensen Construction Co. of Albuquerque starts work on a flood control structure for Sandoval Soil and Water Conservation District to divert Blacks Arroyo water into Calabasas and Rio Grande. The $920,374 project covers protection for the new high school, Seven Bar Airport, and nearby homes with 80 percent federal funding and 20 percent shared by local districts. Construction is slated for about one year. Tom Allen is job superintendent.
