Leadership Sandoval County program applications due June 30
The Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce announces the 2016 Leadership Sandoval County program with a 10 month schedule to build leadership skills. Early enrollment pricing runs until July 1 at 800 for members and 950 for nonmembers, rising to 850 and 1000 after that date. Route 66 Tour Brings Rio Rancho Man to Historic New Mexico Stops
Glen Smith of Rio Rancho joined about two dozen travelers on the Route 66 Association New Mexico Motor Tour starting in Gallup and ending in Tucumcari. The trek retraced the Mother Road with stops at Clines Corners, Moriarty, Santa Rosa, and more, including the Route 66 Museum in Tucumcari. Smith, a retired Army veteran and former state police officer, shared memories of Tucumcari and his life path from Ragtown to Six Shooter Siding, then to Rio Rancho, while noting the tour’s passport raffles and the 50-year shift to I-40 reduced original 66 segments.

Parra to attend UN linked Global Leadership Initiative
Rio Rancho Public Schools board member Ryan Parra will join 53 other young leaders in the Global Leadership Initiative in Norwalk Connecticut. The six day program, run with the United Nations and Rotary International, aims to train future leaders through interactions with business and political figures. Parra hopes the experience boosts his community service and political ambitions.
