Rivera Wins Democratic Primary for Sandoval Sheriff

About 22 percent turnout in Sandoval County primary. Sheriff Ray Rivera led with 45.6 percent, defeating Timothy Lucero and Felix Valdez. Rivera faces no Republican or Green opposition in November, and seeks open government and more resources for his department. Magistrate Judge race also saw incumbent Margaret Cassidy-Baca win in the Democratic primary.

Police identify APD sergeant found dead in West Side park

Cheryl Tiller 38, a sergeant with the Albuquerque Police Department since 1994, was found shot to death yesterday on a mesa near a jogging path. Police seek Roy Martinez 25, last person with Tiller, and a white blue Ford longbed pickup with NM plate 357 KPB. Funeral arrangements pending.

Jury still put on Teen Court future

Rio Rancho City Council cut 305000 from the Juvenile Services Department funding, eliminating the JUSTICE academy and Teen Court on July 1. A fact finding committee will assess JUSTICE to decide if a revamp is warranted amid efforts to possibly save Teen Court.

Districtwide CTB results delayed due to scoring error

Rio Rancho Public Schools will postpone release of district and school wide CTB M cGraw Hill scores for fourth through eighth grades after discovering mis totaling that mixed modified and regular administration results. Individual student scores are correct, but district totals must be re calculated, with 30 to 40 tests at issue and a potential large impact on the final embargo.
